For more than a century, our schools in Surprise Valley have done a remarkable job educating generations of students. We continue to do so today. Our schools have always been small with limited resources compared to urban schools. Surprise Valley Union High School began with only twenty students. As of 2016 there were 48.
The Surprise Valley community has always supported our schools. Continuing that tradition, a group of dedicated community members has created the Surprise Valley Education Foundation (SVEdF) to raise funds for increased educational opportunities for SV children. You can help this exciting new adventure by giving your ideas, time and financial support. Many people have already done so and extended their help in establishing the Foundation. |

“With the educational budget cuts on the state and federal level, I take great pride in knowing our community is working together to close the financial gap needed to provide quality educational opportunities for Surprise Valley youth. I am willing to support the SVEdF by donating my time, money and resources!”
— Heather Tufts, Masters in Education Administration, Class of 1999
“I foster the idea that children in Surprise Valley have opportunities beyond local curriculum. Being one of four generations of SVHS graduates, there is a place in my heart for all those who travel the halls and attend good ole’ Surprise Valley. Your support for the Foundation and financial contribution will enable our ‘alma mater’ to continue educating.”
— Traci Page Green, CEO, Escrow Officer, Retired, Class of 1977
“Without doubt, education is the key to success and opening doors of opportunity in the 21st Century. As a community, we must do everything possible to keep those doors open for our youth. I fully support SVEdF’s efforts toward that goal and hope you will become a supporter too. For over 100 years, our schools have produced many fine, accomplished citizens. Let’s make sure those standards of excellence continue into the future.”
— Ann Wylie Odgers, Retired Teacher, SVJUSD
“I am happy to support the efforts of SVEdF. Their mission statement tells the story. Please place SVEdF on your charity of choice; and help as you can. We have the opportunity to again make a difference at SVHS.”
